Japan needs to Stop Coal Finance

A large banner urging “STOP COAL FINANCE” was unveiled in the UN World Conference Centre amid chanting to “stop coal” in English and Japanese. This action leads into a global day of action on November 14, 2015 calling on world leaders to “Stop Funding Fossils”, where Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has emerged as a top target because of Japan’s coal finance.

In this interview, Jake Schmidt, International Program Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council, speaks of the failing grades Japan is getting for its climate action.
